Fret King Super-Matic Gloss Black Electric Guitar

This is a Fret King Super-Matic Electric Guitar in Gloss Black finish. Made in 2012, this bolt-on neck constructed guitar consists of an Alder body, a Hard Maple neck, and a 24-fret Indian Rosewood fingerboard. Other features include chrome die-cast tuners, a Wilkinson ATD self-tuning bridge (please see report), and a set of HSH Wilkinson pickups that are wired to a master volume, two Vari-coil controls, and a five-way pickup selector.

The satin finish soft ‘C’ neck plays very well, feeling comfortable in the hand, with the rounded neck heel giving unobstructed access to the upper register, while the medium jumbo fret wire feels rock solid, giving loads to work with when bending.

The Wilkinson humbuckers produce a thick and powerful modern tone. The neck pickup provides crystal clear clean sounds, with more aggressive mids and increased sustain as you crank the gain, this is perfect for high-speed solos and long sustained melodic interludes. The bridge pickup offers a tight bottom end, and a searing high frequency cut, making a great pickup for heavy styles of music and modern techniques. The Wilkinson WHSM ‘vintage voiced’ single-coil in the middle position sits great with a nice balance of bright trebles and full warm bass, and lends itself well to rhythm tones. Providing a great feel and clarity, allowing the player to achieve a wide variety of tones all at the fingertips. Fret-King’s unique Varicoil control, this guitar is perfect for a whole range of styles, making for a hugely versatile instrument that easily meets the needs of the modern working musician.

Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall excellent condition, it is difficult to discern any markings to the headstock.

Neck: Overall excellent condition, it is difficult to discern any markings to the neck and fingerboard. There is a small circular marking beneath the A string at the fourth fret which is an imperfection in the wood used for the fingerboard.

Body: Overall excellent condition, all aspects of the body demonstrate very light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles. This is common for gloss black finish.

Condition of Frets:

The frets demonstrate minimal signs of use. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.

Current Set Up:

Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (4mm hex) not included.

Hardware: The automatic tuning bridge does not appear to function. The tuner lights up and displays the correct notes, but we cannot get it to tune itself. There is very little information available about the function of this bridge.

Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.75mm - Bass 2mm
